Abbiamo contattato l’HSA per conoscere meglio questa associazione, che sappiamo essere generosa da anni per i contributi contro la caccia, e che nel 2015 ha aderito al network antifa inglese. La battaglia contro ogni tipo di caccia, come altre lotte, deve poter immaginare uno scenario con diversi livelli di contrasto, dai sabotaggi alle richieste di stralci legislativi, dalle azioni dirette alle denunce contro i cacciatori anche per i maltrattamenti che infliggono agli animali che allevano, come la tortura dei richiami vivi per l’uccellagione o a quelli che colpiscono i cani da caccia. Per quanto, dal nostro punto di vista, petizioni e raccolte firme non portino ad un cambiamento, ma solo a farsi conoscere, a far parlare del caso in questione per riuscire a creare reti di mobilitazione attive e dal basso, crediamo che questi livelli si debbano supportare a vicenda per poter raggiungere la fine di questa atroce attività. La caccia, legale o illegale che sia, siamo certi che sia sempre terribile, atta solo ad educare e a formare alla violenza, in particolare alla supremazia dell’essere umano su qualsiasi altro animale.
1D. Prima di tutto, ci piacerebbe sapere che tipo di progetti e azioni portate avanti nel vostro territorio, riguardo gli animali umani e non umani.
1R. La Hunt Saboteurs Association (Associazione sabotatori caccia) si dedica a salvare la vita degli animali cacciati, attraverso l’azione diretta non violenta. Facciamo anche una campagna per il rafforzamento e l’applicazione delle leggi anti-caccia nel Regno Unito e altrove (vedi presentazione cliccando sull’immagine sotto).
2D. Per le vostre attività, avete (o avete avuto) situazioni come multe, arresti o processi da affrontare?
2R. La caccia con i cani, a cavallo o a piedi, è illegale nella maggior parte del Regno Unito, quindi i sabotaggi che facciamo di routine per volpi, cervi e lepri, non infrangono la legge. Tuttavia, la polizia ci è spesso contro e i sabotatori vengono arrestati, anche se pochi sono perseguiti con successo. Quando sabotiamo la caccia tradizionale (legale, ndr), potremmo infrangere la legge e rischiare davvero l’arresto. Per noi è di gran lunga una maggiore minaccia l’estrema violenza usata dai cacciatori contro di noi. A riguardo, potete vedere la pagina Facebook dei Croydon Hunt Saboteurs e i dettagli su uno dei più estremi incidenti successi nello scorso fine settimana (13 marzo 2016).
3D. Abbiamo fatto un dossier sulle nuove destre nell’ecologismo e animalismo in Italia 
e ci piacerebbe avere da voi una panoramica di questi neri elementi in UK (per esempio chi sono, come tentano di mimetizzarsi e in che lotte principalmente, vivisezione, pellicce, allevamenti intensivi, ecc, quanto seguito hanno e se a livello istituzionale sono coperti o meno).
3R. A volte incontriamo razzisti tra le nostre fila. Le loro opinioni sono contrarie alle nostre e se non cambiano, non sarà più permesso loro di stare con noi. Non credo che ci sia alcun tentativo deliberato della destra di infiltrarsi nella HSA o nel più ampio movimento per i diritti degli animali. C’è un’organizzazione nazionalista chiamata Animal Rights Network, ma sono piccoli e marginali.
Un problema molto più grande è l’infiltrazione da parte della polizia. L’estensione dell’ infiltrazione è uno scandalo nazionale qui e sta per essere oggetto di un’indagine governativa chiamata Pitchford Inquiry.
4D. In Italia, il veganismo si sta per lo più diffondendo sui mainstream come una questione di salute, alla moda e neoliberista, mentre i gruppi fascisti e razzisti utilizzano la questione dei diritti animali per fare proseliti. Quanto e in che modo il veganismo sta prendendo piede nel Regno Unito? Secondo voi, quanto il movimento anti-capitalista ha assimilato la questione vegana anti-specista?
4. Dalle esperienze in giro per l’Europa, direi che nel Regno Unito più che altrove il veganismo ha forti radici nel benessere degli animali/diritti animali. Sicuramente, la maggior parte dei vegani che conosco sono tali perché si preoccupano per gli animali. Anche l’attivismo (per gli animali) sembra essere più diffuso nel Regno Unito che altrove. Ho cercato di creare gruppi di HSA in altri paesi europei e negli Stati Uniti, ma non è stato facile. La dieta vegana sembra diffondersi rapidamente in tutta Europa e negli Stati Uniti, ma la motivazione pare rimanere la salute e l’ambiente, piuttosto che la questione del benessere degli animali. Stranamente, non ci sono dati ufficiali per il numero di vegani nel Regno Unito, anche se di recente ho sentito citare 300.000 vegani al VegFest.
Non credo che il veganismo sia prioritatio nell’agenda dell’ estrema destra, qui.
La maggior parte delle persone vegane e per i diritti degli animali vorrebbero sostenere il movimento anti-austerità, ma la maggior parte dei manifestanti anti-austerità non sono coinvolti in diritti degli animali.
5D. Siamo stati felici di apprendere la notizia della vostra adesione al Network Antifascista (AFN), che abbiamo pubblicato sul nostro blog. Possiamo immaginarlo, ma preferiamo chiedervi quale necessità vi ha portato a fare questo passo?
Quanto è rappresentata l’anima antispecista/vegan all’interno della rete Antifascista?
Vi siete mai sentiti discriminati o avete avuto critiche per la vostra scelta politica di paragonare l’oppressione umana con quella animale, in questo contesto? Dai compagni che non fanno il collegamento tra razzismo e specismo, avete mai incontrato incomprensione e/o resistenza perchè sottolineate il dominio dell’essere umano sugli altri animali? Siete mai stati offesi per questa comparazione?
5R. L’HSA collabora con gli Antifa per chiarire che siamo un movimento anti-specista e che ci fa automaticamente anti-razzista. Molti sabotatori sono coinvolti anche in azioni Antifa. La partnership con gli Antifa manda un chiaro messaggio ai razzisti di non provare ad unirsi ai gruppi HSA.
Purtroppo, molte persone nel movimento Antifa non sembrano fare la connessione tra razzismo e specismo.

We contacted the HSA to learn more about this association that we know to be generous for years for contributions against hunting, and in 2015 HSA joined the Antifascist Network. The struggle against all types of hunting, like other struggles, must be able to imagine a scenary with different contrast levels, from sabotage to requests for legislative elimination, from direct actions to complaints against hunters for harassment that they inflict to the bred animals too, such as torture of live decoys for birds or those that affect the hunting dogs. From our point of view, petitions and signatures do not lead to a change, but only to be known and talked about the case in question, to be able to create active networks and mobilization from below, we believe that these levels should support a each other in order to reach the end of this heinous activity. Hunting, legal or illegal it may be, we are sure that it is always terrible, able only to educate and to form to violence, in particular to human supremacy over any other animal.
1Q. First of all, we’d like to know which kind of projects and actions do you conduct in your territory, about animals human and not human.
1A. The Hunt Saboteurs Association is dedicated to saving the lives of hunted animals through non-violent direct action. We also campaign for the strengthening and enforcement of anti-hunting laws in the UK and elsewhere (presentation attached)
2Q. For your activities, did you have (or having) situations like fines, arrests or processes to deal with?
2A. Hunting with Hounds is illegal in most of the UK, so sabs are not routinely breaking the law when sabotaging fox, deer and hare hunts. However, the Police are often antagonistic towards us and sabs do get arrested, although very few are successfully prosecuted. When we are sabotaging shoots, we may be breaking the law and risking arrest. A far greater threat to us is the extreme violence used by the hunters against us. 3Q. We got a dossier about Italian right wing on the struggle for animals and environment (in English) 
and we would like to have from you an overview of these blacks elements in UK (who they are, which are the struggles they infiltrate -vivisection, meat industry, fur, etc-, if they try to blend in, their institutional connections or protectors (if any) and the proportion of their followers through the people.
3A. We occasionally find racists among our ranks. Their views are challenged. If they do not change, they will not be permitted to be with us. I don’t think there is any deliberate attempt by the far right to infiltrate the HSA or the wider animal rights movement. There is an organisation called the Nationalist Animal Rights Network, but they are tiny and marginalised. A far bigger problem is infiltration by the Police. The extent of the infiltration is a national scandal here and is about to be the subject of a government investigation called the Pitchford Inquiry.
4Q. In Italy, veganism is mostly spreading on mainstream as a healthy, trendy and neoliberal matter, while fascist and racist groups use the animal right side to make proselytes. How much and which way is veganism catching on in the United Kingdom? In your opinion, how much the anti-capitalist movement has assimilated the antispeciesist vegan issue?
4A. From my experiences travelling around Europe, I would say that Veganism has stronger roots in animal rights/animal welfare in the UK than elsewhere. Certainly, most of the vegans I know are vegan because they care about animals. Activism also seems to be more prevalent in the UK. I have been trying to set up sab groups in other European countries and the USA, but it has not been easy. Dietary Veganism seems to be spreading rapidly across Europe and the USA, but the motivation seems to be health and the environment rather than the animal welfare issue. Strangely, there are no official figures for the number of vegans in the UK, although I heard 300,000 being quoted at Vegfest recently.
I don’t think that veganism is on the far right’s agenda here.
Most vegans and animal rights people would support the anti austerity movement, but most of the anti-austerity protesters are not involved in animal rights.
5Q. We are happy to learn the “news” of your membership to Antifascist Network (AFN), and we published it on our blog. we can immagine, but we prefer ask you what necessity has led you to take this step?
How much is represented the soul antispeicist/vegan inside Antifascist Network?
Have you ever felt discriminated or opposed to for your political choice of comparing human and animal oppression, in this contest?
Have you ever met incomprehension and/or resistance by underlining the domination of human being on other animals, from comrades who don’t make the connection between racism and speciesism, also being offended for this comparison?
5A. The HSA collaborated with Antifa to make the clear point that we are an anti-speciesist movement and that automatically makes us anti-racist. Lots of sabs are also involve in Antifa actions. The partnership with Antifa sent a clear message to racists not to try to join sab groups.
Sadly, many people in the Antifa movement don’t seem to get the connection between racism and speciesism.
